However, what is interesting is that the phone is likely to launch in India as the Redmi Y2 instead of Redmi S2. The smartphone maker is also expected to launch its new online exclusive series under the brand "Realme". According to some earlier reports, the company to call the device as Xiaomi Mi 8, as it comes out as the 8th-anniversary edition smartphone of Xiaomi.

The Twitter post is accompanied by a short teaser which suggests the handset will be launched in India as the Redmi Y2, instead of the Redmi S2.

The news did not say whether the Beijing-based company, which has become the world's fourth largest smartphone brand after Samsung, Apple and Huawei, was planning to manufacture its own camera components. Under the hood, we see that the phone is operated by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SOC and comes in two types, which has 3 GB RAM + 32GB storage and the other is 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. For optics, there's a rear dual camera setup which includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with PDAF and f/2.2 aperture along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. In the past, the Redmi Y2 name was spotted on Xiaomi India's website along with Mi A2, but Xiaomi is not teasing the launch of Mi A2 though.

Xiaomi has itself not confirmed whether the same Redmi S2 is launching in India, but given the teasers, it is safe to assume this is part of the Redmi Y series. The 4G feature phone market continued to grow at more than 50 percent quarter-on-quarter, driven primarily by Jio Phone. This is pretty decent but the front comes with a whopping 16 MP camera which is awesome in the given price range.
