Microtransactions are returning to Star Wars Battlefront II alongside the Endor Update on April 18. Each defeated stormtrooper spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire's forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin.
EA didn't exactly generate a lot of good faith with the progression system in Star Wars: Battlefront II, particularly since it seems to be heavily weighed in favour of people who purchased loot boxes with real money. Similarly players will be able to earn crystals by beating in-game milestones. Every stormtrooper that's killed in battle will respawn on the other side as an Ewok, meaning that as the game continues and more stormtroopers go down, they'll be fighting more and more Ewoks, which will make their job harder. To be fair, it's not a game-breaking implementation, as it only affects cosmetic items.
EA is continuing to dish out new free DLC for Star Wars Battlefront 2.
No word yet on whether these Ewoks will try to eat the stormtroopers, too.
More news: Carragher reveals why Salah HAS to be named Player of the YearEA also detailed the return of Crystals, as one of the ways for fans to unlock Appearances, including Endor Leia and Endor Han. Night on Endor will also feature a balancing update and bug fixes. Crystals will be reintroduced with the update, but can only be used to purchase cosmetic items like these new Appearances.
In total, more than 50 additional Appearances will be included in the update, such as Wounded Chewbacca with an arm patch, Scarred Kylo Ren, Administrator Lando, Hooded Yoda, and Ahch-To Rey, as well as forty new Trooper Appearances.
Going forward, DICE implied that they want to keep up a monthly cadence of smaller content releases, while also providing larger multiple-month Seasons that will pair with big events like Star Wars film releases an anniversaries in the Star Wars universe.
