Snapchat Stories testing out Instagram-style tagging feature

Snapchat Stories testing out Instagram-style tagging feature

Taking a play straight out of Instagram's book, Snapchat is adding the ability to tag other users! Tagging could also assist Snapchat in improving the intertwining of Stories and messaging, which now appear on the same tap post the app's revamp. You just type a username in the text field of your image or video caption.

It's unclear when the feature will roll out officially, but Snapchat confirmed to TechCrunch that 'we're testing this, ' without giving more details.

Snapchat is letting some users tag their friends. TechCrunch posted about Snap's latest experiment with explanatory screenshots taken by Matt Rappaport, who describes himself as an "Actor-Comedian-Creator!" on his Twitter account @nyactor. As of right now, there is no concrete date as to when this new feature will be rolled out on the app, as it is currently still in Beta testing for the time being.

If the person tagged also has this unofficial feature, then they will receive notifications. So if you suddenly get dozens of friend requests without warning, perhaps a friend has gotten tag-happy.

Apparently the new tagging system is now being rolled out - so be on the lookout! As spotted by Matt Rappaport and reported by TechCrunch, Snapchat is now testing the ability for users to tag other users within Snaps by including their username in a text field.

Snapchat has been busy adding a slew of other features over the last few weeks.
