President Muhammadu Buhari receives Fifa Wold Cup trophy

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday received the FIFA World Cup Trophy ahead of the 2018 World cup tournament in Russian Federation.

Former France global and World Cup-winning midfielder, Christian Karembeu believes the Super Eagles of Nigeria must play in a insane manner if they are to become the first country outside the continent of Europe and South America to lift the FIFA World Cup.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Mr. Olusade Adesola said the present of the trophy in Nigeria will stimulate the government to support the Super Eagles to do well at the competition.

In the past weeks, Nigerians have been winning tickets to see the coveted trophy live.

"Yes, we know there are a number of strong African countries in the game but Nigeria has always been a great footballing nation, and they have an exciting team heading to the FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation".

Over the next few months, the Fifa World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will visit no less than 30 cities across 19 countries before settling back in Russian Federation for the tournament.

From the Abuja International Airport, the Trophy proceeded to the Transcorp Hilton for a press engagement with the media before moving to the Presidential Villa where President Mohamadu Buhari received the Trophy.

The trophy and its accompanying team will then fly into Lagos on Friday morning, to be received by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and members of his cabinet as well as NFF President Amaju Pinnick and NFF 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi.
