Headphones hurled in T'gana House; Council chairman hurt

The governor requested the protesting MLAs to be silent and maintain the sanctity of the House but they continued to raise slogans. It missed the governor and hit Goud on his face, causing bleeding just below his right eye.

The agitated Congress MLAs then tore copies of the governor's speech into pieces and threw them at the podium. Opposition BJP members walked out of the house during the address.

The state minister for irrigation, Harish Rao has passed a motion from TRS party to suspend the following members from service of the house till the end of this session- K Jana Reddy, Jeevan Reddy, J Geetha Reddy, Chinna Reddy, N Uttham Kumar Reddy, N Padmavathi Reddy, Madhava Reddy, Mallu Bhattivikrama, DK Aruna, D Rammohan Reddy and C Vamshichand Reddy. They came to the House pre-planned to create disturbances.

As per reports, Reddy and other Congress MLAs were protesting the K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)-led Telangana government's attitude towards rising farmer suicides in the state. In an unfortunate incident, Council chairman Swamy Goud got hurt. The ruling TRS would finalise its strategy for the session at a meeting of its MLAs and MLCs today, TRS sources said. Upset with the opposition member's behaviour, the government is considering to propose exemplary action on Venkat Reddy in the Assembly on Tuesday.

During the protest, senior Congress member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was seen throwing his headphone towards the Governor.

The Governor said that Telangana was the first state in the country to supply free power supply to farmers and soon the state would achieve surplus in power.

He also detailed the steps taken by the government to improve agriculture sector, fisheries, horticulture, sheep distribution programme and the successful undertaking of the land records updation. He claimed that the state had become a role model for the other states in terms of development.
