Who Is Tommy Wiseau, James Franco's Golden Globes Guest?

The story of how it all came about became the basis for the book and now Franco's movie, which focuses on their friendship as much as it does on the creation of The Room.

Wiseau infamously wrote, directed, produced and starred in the 2003 independent film The Room, considered one of the worst movies ever made.

Actor James Franco won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Tommy Wiseau in the film The Disaster Artist.

Plus, as Golden Globe winners like Guillermo del Toro and Gary Oldman found out at the ceremony, each recipient is given a short amount of time to get out their thank-yous. The making of the film inspired James Franco's critically acclaimed film "The Disaster Artist", which was released in 2017.

That's the lesson Tommy Wiseau, the inspiration behind Franco's directing/star turn in "The Disaster Artist," discovered Sunday night at the Golden Globes.

Still friends! James Franco (l.) and Tommy Wiseau at a Golden Globes after party in Beverly Hills, California on January 7. "I don't wait for Hollywood, I make my own movie", Franco said, quoting Wiseau.

In a profile in The New York Times about the play, Sheedy hugged Franco in front of the reporter and called him "a lovely, generous man".

In three tweets, which she quickly deleted, Sheedy called out Franco and nominee Christian Slater during the 2018 Golden Globes.

Do you understand life, James Franco? He told the Times, "I want to know what Tommy was going to say!"

"I'm very happy to share this moment with him today", Franco added, returning to his normal voice.

While no further details have been revealed in the matter and no case has been filed against Franco, we hope that he, too, is made to reckon with his past actions. Franco, showed the entire world his real attraction to The Room was that he found a character hard enough to emulate that it would serve as evidence he can indeed "act".
