There is much to learn from the ANC, says Kenyatta

President Kenyatta will be present in South Africa for some time and will attend the ANC birthday celebrations that will take place this weekend.

Thousands of ANC members at the Buffalo City Stadium in the industrial town of East London went into a frenzy as President Kenyatta and his delegation entered the venue.

"This is a working visit for President Kenyatta, he has just come to have some consultations, of course, we do this as part of looking forward to the state visit that is going to be made by the President in the first half of this year".

He explained that ANC and Jubilee party would work together to cement and strengthen the relations between the people of the two countries.

Jubilee party leaders Vice-Chairman David Murathe and Secretary-General Raphael Tuju accompanied President Kenyatta at the dinner.

"The economy of Kenya can not succeed if the economy of South Africa fails, and the economy of South Africa can not succeed if Kenya's economy fails", he said.

"We have also had the opportunity to discuss regional issues of mutual interest, and matters of peace and security".

President Uhuru Kenyatta and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa have said there is need for the two governments to boost trade, movement of goods and people of the two nations.

"Billions of rands have been illegally diverted to individuals", Cyril Ramaphosa said Saturday while celebrating the party's 106th anniversary. Mandela died in 2013 at the age of 95.

He said the message of unity that Ramaphosa has been delivering is one that resonates well, not only with South Africans but also with other parties on the African continent.

In recognition of the service the veteran liberation leader gave and his role in the leadership of South Africa and the world, the ANC declared 2018 the "year of renewal, unity and jobs".

Kenyatta congratulated Ramaphosa with his "victory" of being elected as ANC president in December.
