The MicroLED technology featured in The Wall eliminates the need for color filters or backlight, yet allows the screen to offer consumers the ultimate viewing experience, according to Samsung. That means that the TV is made of a bunch of smaller squares that are put together.

"The Wall eliminates the need for color filters or backlight, yet allows the screen to offer consumers the ultimate viewing experience", Samsung said in a statement after the TV's unveiling on January 7.

Because it is modular you can actually make it even bigger by connecting more displays into it. Makes sense to call it The Wall, doesn't it?

Samsung claims that "The Wall" has incredible definition, without restrictions to size, resolution or form. This can be a problem for OLED screens as, unlike LCD displays which have own backlight, the light for an OLED screen is created by the pixels themselves - which, in the case of an 8K display, are tiny. This results in a high contrast footage that is better than the traditional LCD screens.

It is difficulty to manufacture micro-LED screens because because the LEDs as they are to be individually placed onto a layer by machines.

However, unlike OLED, the Micro LED tech of the gargantuan Wall TV doesn't have quite so many limitations on peak brightness.

CES 2018 is going to be opening doors the following week and on the other edge, LG has already announced its brand new 88-inch 8K TV just before this significant technology exhibit.

Samsung has confirmed that The Wall will be making its way to the market this same year and in a range of different sizes. However, this is the first step in the technology and will pave the way for the future and maybe one day the technology will become common and will be affordable to all.
