The young princess seems to be a step ahead of her brother Prince George who can count to 10 in Spanish aged just 3.

At the age of two Princess Charlotte can already speak Spanish and has been practicing with her Palencia-born nanny, according to reports.

Middleton is expected to give birth to the royal family's third child in April. The Duchess of Cambridge often reworks her favorite pieces from her wardrobe even if she has worn them previously at public events.

She may have just started nursery school but already Princess Charlotte, 2, has a certain royal charm. and a good command of Spanish!

So while the halls may no longer be decked at Kensington Palace, where Prince George and Princess Charlotte live with Kate and Prince William, they can always go and visit their Gan Gan if they want a little bit of festive cheer throughout January. "They thought it would be an ideal first step for Charlotte's education", a royal source tells People. And with Charlotte's outfit, Kate is channelling her taste for timeless classics, such as this well-cut wool coat.

But while every mother will be tempted to dress up her little girl for her first day, I'd be interested to see whether, after hours playing with glitter and glue, she repeats it every day.

It is not the first time that pregnant Kate, 36 on Tuesday, has taken official photographs herself.
