Palestinians killed in clashes with Israeli troops in Gaza, West Bank

"United States ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, attacked the Palestinian Authority regarding the so-called the martyrs and prisoners allowance's bill".

On Thursday, two Palestinian teenagers were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces, one on the border with the Gaza Strip and the other in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Saeb Erekat, the secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, lambasted Israel's move and said that it "continues with its plan to bury all the chances of a political settlement". The Israeli military said violent riots had erupted at two locations along the Gaza border and some 50 Palestinians had participated, hurling rocks and rolling burning tires at troops. Naser Qados, Omar's cousin, said soldiers who had erected a checkpoint at the entrance to a village opened fire on protesters who were throwing stones at them.

Strict measures have been imposed on tens of thousands of Palestinians following the killing of an Israeli rabbi in a drive-by shooting in the West Bank this week.

At least 46 Palestinians have been injured in clashes with Israeli forces who again deployed tear gas and live ammunition at the weekly "Day of Rage" protests against the USA decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Israeli settlements violate the Fourth Geneva Convention, which states that an occupying power can not transfer its population into the territory it occupies.

The Palestinians are protesting against U.S. President Donald Trump's December announcement recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The status of Jerusalem has ignited tensions between Israelis and Palestinians for decades.

Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem effectively put the entire city under de facto Israeli control.

A further 200,000 live in East Jerusalem, annexed by Israel in a move never recognised by the global community.
