John Feeley, US ambassador to Panama, resigns

A Department of State spokesperson said Feeley told the agency on December 27 he was retiring for personal reasons.

The US ambassador to Panama has resigned from his post, telling the State Department that he can no longer serve under President Trump, according to reports. "That time has come", Feeley wrote.

Panama's DiaaDia reported his resignation before the Washington Post broke the news about Trump's offensive remarks in an Oval Office meeting with senators about immigration.

Trump said he'd prefer to receive immigrants from countries like Norway. Naturally, the president's comments were confirmed by Sen.

The announcement comes on the heels of a report that Trump called Haiti and African countries "shithole countries," a claim Trump denies. He tweeted: "Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country". Made up by Dems.

Throughout his 35 years in both the nation's Marines and Department of State, the ambassador dedicated his efforts to supporting integration and maintaining good relations between the Americas. Before assuming his current position, Feeley served as principal deputy assistant secretary for Western Hemisphere affairs from 2012 to 2015.

It would have been hard for the U.S. Ambassador to Haiti to resign given there is no U.S. Ambassador to Haiti.

The problem was, Mary Emily O'Hara got out over her skis and was forced to delete an erroneous tweet that blamed Trump's comments for John Feeley resignation.

"It is the cultural heritage of machismo, which is a bad thing in many ways", Feeley said.

Feeley was also a vocal supporter of former U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Wally Brewster, whose appointment generated a backlash because Brewster is married to a man.
