Instagram Stories get WhatsApp cross-posting in new test

The report quotes a spokesperson stating that they are always testing new ways to enhance the user experience on Instagram and make it simpler and easier for users to share any moment with the people around them who matter the most to them.

The feature is said to now be tested among a limited number of people.

Prior to this past New Years Eve, WhatsApp achieved its most recent milestone in July when the Facebook-owned company reported that it had more than 1 billion daily active users.

As of now, there is no word about when the feature will rolled out to general public. However, Facebook has said it has "not ruled out" a Facebook Story that can be cross-posted onto Instagram.

According to TechCrunch, Facebook is now experimenting with another expansion of story cross-posting ability, this time focusing on WhatsApp.

The app is testing a way to share Stories on Whatsapp, with the trials reportedly already going ahead in Brazil.

Facebook is testing another feature which will let you share your Instagram stories on WhatsApp status directly. As mentioned, the feature is now under works and is available only to select users.

Similar to the user's page, now the hashtags will also have a follow option.

This new feature uses facial recognition technology, which will help you to find your pictures you or anybody else has uploaded, even if you are not tagged in them. In addition, as I am aware (thus far) this little hack does not work the other way round (crossposting your Facebook stories to Instagram) but nonetheless, I would not rule it out as an option for the future.

The second reason is to increase the use of WhatsApp Status.

The new feature will effectively allow Facebook to increase their total engagement, traffic footprint and potentially increase overall usage.
