Ikea Just Released A New Ad That You're Supposed To Pee On

Talking about good advertising, IKEA, a Netherlands-based furniture company, has come up with an ingenious and novel ad that has successfully become the first viral ad of 2018...

Reaction on social media has been mixed with some saying it goes too far and is 'unhygenic'.

Peeing on Ikea's new printout ad could get you a special discounted price on cribs... if you're pregnant. The ad, which is now available only in the Swedish catalogue, has unsurprisingly solicited a strong response from people who are intrigued, disgusted and everything in between.

According to AdWeek, the ad encourages women to dab urine on a modified pregnancy test strip included at the bottom of the magazine and wait a few minutes to find out the result. If the test comes back as positive, the discount is revealed.

The initiative by the maker of Billy bookshelves and Lack tables might not have raised eyebrows if it weren't for the crude instructions provided: the top of the magazine's page says "Peeing on this ad may change your life".

Ikea's new print ad in Sweden includes a pregnancy test where women can, well, you know how home pregnancy tests work...

It could even double as an actual pregnancy test, which could cause a few shocks if you were peeing on it as a joke.

"In order to make the interactive functions of this ad work in reality, we had to make several technical advancements", Åkestam Holst, the marketing agency behind the ad explained. But sometimes the only life-changing things we want are some Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes.
