Lamborghini Urus Finally Ships In Spring 2018

Lamborghini unveiled the company's new SUV, the Urus, at its headquarters in Sant'Agata, Italy, on Monday.

Dubbed as a Super SUV, the Urus is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 650 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.

It accelerates from 0-100 km an hour in 3.6 seconds, 0-200 km an hour in 12.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305 km/h.

It is Lamborghini's first SUV since the LM002, which it built between 1986 and 1993.

The body shape is also quite sharp, with the frameless doors displaying the sports car-inspired design and a sleek look that means good aerodynamic efficiency. You also get adaptive air suspension and carbon ceramic brakes as standard. The luxury vehicle maker has said that the first deliveries of their new Urus will start in the spring of next year. This being Lamborghini, upgrades are always upgrades, such as 23-inch rims, a 1,700 watt Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system with 21 speakers, or an off-road package with reinforced bumpers and underfloor protection.

Inside is the premium interior you would expect, with leather upholstery adorning the sport seats in the front, rear bench and dashboard. Company executives unveiled a concept of the rig five years ago, but this is the first time they have shown a real-life production version to the public.

"The Lamborghini Urus is a visionary approach based on the infusion of Lamborghini DNA into the most versatile vehicle, the SUV", Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali said in a statement.

"The Urus fits perfectly within the Lamborghini family as a high-performance auto".

"We are entering new markets that will be very important for the future of our growth".

"It is a true Lamborghini in terms of design, performance, driving dynamics and emotion as well as drivable every day in a range of environments".

The SUV is also expected to help boost the brand in China, the world's largest auto market, where buyers prefer large sedans and crossovers.

Following Lamborghini's tradition of bovine-related names, the Urus is named after a wild ancestor of domestic cattle.
