Iraq lodges complaint with United States over Israel embassy move

State Department of the USA issued a new 'worldwide caution' for all its citizens travelling overseas following President Donald Trump's decision recognising Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel.

"U.S. government facilities worldwide remain in a heightened state of alert", the warning read.

"In addition to concerns stemming from terrorism, travelers should be alert to the possibility of political unrest, violence, demonstrations, and criminal activities when traveling", it said, adding that USA government facilities are on a heightened state of alert".

In addition, the USA embassy in London posted an urgent "security message" on its verified Twitter account, warning Americans in Great Britain "of the need for caution and personal awareness" after the president's controversial declaration. "These facilities may temporarily close or periodically suspend public services to assess their security posture".

"Trump's stupid decision... will be the big spark for removing this entity [Israel] from the body of the Islamic nation, and a legitimate reason to target American forces", said Akram al-Kaabi, the Iraqi organization's leader, as cited by Reuters. Later the American President ordered to transfer the American Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem directly.

He also proclaimed Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Palestinian have demanded that part of Jerusalem be set aside as their capital and the worldwide community has traditionally view Tel Aviv as the capital of Israel.

"With today's decision, my Administration reaffirms its longstanding commitment to building a future of peace and security in the Middle East", Pres. Trump said.

Iraq demanded on Thursday that the US government backtrack on a decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital to avoid fuelling terrorism, and a prominent Iraqi militia said the decision was a reason to attack USA troops.

When asked Tuesday whether the president is concerned about violence, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said, "A number of things have been looked at that have been weighed into the president's decision".

"We caution against the unsafe repercussions of this decision on the stability of the region and the world", an Iraqi government statement said.
