Fire damages Rupert Murdoch estate

Murdoch's Moraga Bel Air winery issued a statement on Twitter Wednesday saying, "We are watching the situation unfold very carefully along with everyone else".

NBC news in LA is reporting that the wildfires are now burning down Rupert Murdoch's house. The vineyard is located near the 405 Freeway, which has been partially closed down. The property has been evacuated but based on what we're seeing on TV there may be damage to some buildings in the upper vineyard area.

Mr Murdoch's property at 1050 Moraga Avenue was bought in August 2013 for US$28.8 million from former Northrop Corp CEO Tom Jones. The estate is nearly 16 acres and includes a main residence that's almost 8,000 square feet.

Roxanne Langer at Moraga Estate said a temperature-controlled wine storage shed burned after the fire erupted before dawn Wednesday but was unclear how much wine was lost. The fire had reached 150 acres by 9:40 a.m. but was expected to grow due to gusting, 25-mph Santa Ana winds.

Around 1:30p a firefighter with Los Angeles County drove by Murdoch's property and noticed a portion of his vineyards on fire with gray smoke filling the air.

President Trump tweeted his thanks to first responders while writing that thoughts and prayers were with everyone in the fire's path.

"I encourage everyone to heed the advice and orders of local and state officials", Trump wrote on Twitter. Several homes in the Bel-Air neighborhood had caught fire, Hollywood Life reported. The fire has destroyed at least six homes.
