Ed Sheeran awarded MBE

Ed Sheeran awarded MBE

Ed Sheeran poses with his MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) medal that was presented to him by Britain's Prince Charles during an Investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, London, December 7, 2017.

Joking about his meeting with Charles, the musician said the Prince was impressed by his globe-trotting activities as he was due to fly to NY later for a gig.

Chart-topping singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been awarded an MBE by the Prince of Wales for a glittering musical career and his charity work.

You might think that Ed Sheeran's life is spent decking the halls, appearing on Game of Thrones and getting into odd accidents: Not so!

When reporters asked him whether he'd play at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding if he was asked, he replied "yeah, why not".

"He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records, and I told him I've got a concert in NY tomorrow", Sheeran told the BBC, according to MTV.

Not only was the 26-year-old English singer recognized as 2017's most-streamed artist on Spotify earlier this week, but he's now also getting some royal attention.

Sheeran added that, on a more personal note, his late grandfather, Bill (who passed in 2013) was a "massive royalist".

'I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing'.
