New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush suspended amid sexual misconduct allegations

Now Vox has broken a story about charges of sexual harassment against Thrush, and the Times has suspended him pending review. Thrush's response was that he is "acutely aware of the hurdles that young women face in this business and have spent the better part of 20 years advocating for women journalists".

The allegations against Thrush, one of the paper's star reporters, were detailed in a piece published by Vox on Monday. "Any behavior that makes a woman feel disrespected or uncomfortable is unacceptable", Thrush said in an emailed statement on the accusations Sunday.

President Trump isn't a big fan of the mainstream media, but he's turned a number of White House reporters who challenge him into household names.

In September, Thrush and his colleague Maggie Haberman, got a deal with Random House to write a book about the Trump administration.

Following the Times announcement of Thrush's suspension, Julian Assange, WikiLeaks founder and publisher, again noted the media collusion that took place between the defeated Clinton camp and Thrush. He has also worked at Newsday.

McGann says Thrush sent her a vague but apologetic email the following morning, and that he did not specify why he was apologizing. "He started kissing me", she wrote. Later, she reported that she felt some men in the Politico office began to look at her differently than they had before.

Although Thrush is not accused of exchanging professional opportunities for sexual favors, McGann and others have alleged that not accepting his advances was met with him slandering them. "My recollection of my interactions with Laura differs greatly from hers-the encounter was consensual, brief, and ended by me...."

Other women at Politico told similar stories about Thrush luring them into situations they were uncomfortable with, often after one or both of them had been drinking.

The woman, who is in her early 20s, according to the Vox article, and he suggested they go for a walk outside. There, after the others had left, he grabbed her and starting kissing her without consent, she alleges. Thrush said he hasn't had alcohol since the event, which he called "life changing". The woman involved was upset by my actions and for that I am deeply sorry. "Over the past several years, I have responded to a succession of personal and health crises by drinking heavily. During that period, I have done things that I am ashamed of, actions that have brought great hurt to my family and friends", Thrush wrote.

"I am working hard to fix the damage I have done", he said. A third woman told McGann that after a 2013 Politico party, Thrush "suddenly.leaned in and landed a wet kiss on her ear". He said he didn't disparage her.

The staffer said she did not believe she was pressured or "a victim", but said she regrets not telling more women-she spoke to two-about Thrush's behavior. "We have zero tolerance for anything else".

A spokesperson for MSNBC said Monday that the network is awaiting the outcome of the Times' investigation into Thrush, and that he "currently has no scheduled appearances" on the network. "He now has no scheduled appearances", reads the statement from MSNBC.
