Airbus Nears Deal for 430 Jets With Indigo Partners

"This significant commitment for 430 additional aircraft underscores our optimistic view of the growth potential of our family of low-priced airlines, as well as our confidence in the A320neo Family as a platform for that growth", said Indigo managing partner Franke.

Airbus shares closed 0.35% higher Tuesday, to end at €83.54. Canada's Enerjet also plans to partner with Indigo to launch a new ultra-low-cost carrier in the Canadian market.

The Indigo deal would more than double Airbus's existing order book for the year, which stood at about 290 aircraft as of October 31.

"An order for 430 aircraft is remarkable, but it's particularly gratifying to all of us at Airbus when it comes from a group of airline professionals who know our products as well as the folks at Indigo Partners do".

While deliveries will start in 2022, the bulk of the aircraft will be delivered in 2025 and 2026, following on from the delivery of the 110 Airbus A321neo aircraft ordered by Wizz Air in 2015.

Wizz Air Holdings Plc announced today at the Dubai Airshow, that following a competitive selection process, it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus S.A.S. relating to the purchase of a further 146 Airbus A320neo family aircraft (72 A320neo and 74 A321neo).

In addition, a separate deal for 175 jets from flyDubai, possibly to be split between Airbus and Boeing is also on the cards.
