Trump Questions NBC's TV License Over A News Story

Wednesday, President Donald Trump threatened the broadcasting licenses of NBC in a series of tweets.

Mr Tillerson last week refused to confirm that he had called the President that, and Mr Trump has said that those reports are fake news.

Trump has been on a rampage since NBC News published a pair of reports about a meeting Trump had over the summer.

The president may be unaware but he does not have the power to revoke the licenses of news networks. "Not fair to public!"

Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska voiced his concerns by explicitly asking Trump if he had abandoned his oath to protect and defend the Constitution.

Mr Trump's tweet came in response to a story written by NBC, which said that Mr Trump had sought to increase America's nuclear arsenal tenfold after taking a look at a briefing slide that showed steady reduction of the United States nuclear arsenal since the 1960s. Wednesday evening, less than one hour before he was scheduled to be interviewed on Fox News by Sean Hannity, the president took to Twitter to blast what he called the "partisan, distorted and fake" news networks. My money wouldn't be on the president who seems ignorant about the First Amendment, basic U.S. History, or that Puerto Ricans are U.S. taxpayers deserving of full U.S disaster relief support. Nixon was unhappy with the Washington Post Company and how they were going after his presidency, and they did a damn good job of it, so he made a decision to have his little acolytes go out there in places like Jacksonville, Florida and Miami, Florida and attempt to get the local news stations there pulled off the air because they were owned by the Washington Post Company. And cable news outlets need no license.

And stripping a station of its license is pretty tough. Corker said Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, Chief of Staff John Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson "help separate our country from chaos".

"Freedom of the press is a cornerstone of our democracy", she added in a subsequent tweet.
