Flight 666 Flies to HEL on Friday the 13th

Your worst nightmare is about to end: today is the last time you will have to face the possibility of taking Flight 666 to HEL on Friday 13th.

The final destination for passengers on this Friday the 13th flight is HEL.

Finnair service AY666, which flies from Copenhagen to Helsinki, where the airport code is HEL, is changing its flight number later this month.

Today marks the day the Nordic airline has chose to retire the number after flying more than 21 times on Friday 13 since 2006. The airline declined to comment on whether the change had been made with concerned or superstitious passengers in mind.

The flight started 11 years ago and has fallen on Friday the 13th 21 times with no reported ill effects. Paraskevidekatriaphobia is another term for the fear of "Friday the 13th".

The flight takes off at 1.20pm and lasts for one hour and 35minutes.

"As of Oct 29th, some of our flight numbers in our network will change and our AY666 flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki will change to AY954".

The flight has landed on Friday 13 a total of 21 times.

"It has been quite a joke among the pilots", pilot Juha-Pekka Keidasto told the Associated Press in 2013.

Finnair insists it isn't scrapping the spooky number because of fears from superstitious customers. "It's only a coincidence for me".
