Chicago Bulls: Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic involved in fight, Mirotic hospitalized

Nikola Mirotic is now hospitalized after an altercation with Chicago Bulls teammate Bobby Portis, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

As for Portis, he can expect a stiff punishment from the team, as witnesses said it started as a shoving match between the two before Portis threw a cheap shot.

The Bulls say Mirotic is out indefinitely as he recovers, though Johnson says the forward is expected to miss a few weeks. Portis apparently punched Mirotic on the face breaking bones and sending him to the hospital.

The Chicago Bulls season is just two days away from the opener, traveling all the way to Toronto to play the Raptors.

The 26-year-old Montenegro native has averaged at least 10 points per game in each of his three seasons since joining the Bulls before the 2014-15 season. It's especially bad when the fight is so severe that one lands in the hospital.

Portis was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) in the 2015 NBA Draft.
