Two infiltrators killed in Kupwara

Two suspected militants were killed on Saturday after the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir's Machil sector in Kupwara district. The combing operation continued in the area till last reports came in.

"Two terrorists have been killed".

Weapons have been recovered from the slain terrorists, whose identity and affiliation is being ascertained, the spokesman said.

There have been continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the IB for the past four days, in which one BSF jawan was killed and a few others were injured. Indian Army gave a befitting response against the ceasefire violation following the firing from across the worldwide border had reportedly stopped.

Sources said the army men deployed along LoC in Machil sector intercepted a group of militants trying to sneak into Valley today.

A Defence spokesman said that alert troops noticed the movement of infiltrators in the wee hours in Macchil sector, around 130 kilometres from here. This bid was foiled after more than a month's time when last infiltration was repulsed with fatal casualties on militant side.
