Thatgamecompany's Next Game is Sky, Coming First on Apple TVs and iPhone

Thatgamecompany CEO Jenova Chen took the stage to showcase the first footage of what he called a "romantic social adventure game".

The game was shown running on Apple's upcoming Apple TV 4K device. The entire game, he said, can be played with the simple controls built into the touch-sensitive Apple TV remote.

Back in 2014, we reported that the studio had secured $7 million in funding for this project. On the company site, they describe the title: "It's hard to explain the game, but a good place would be to say that Sky is a game specially created to be played, and shared, among loved ones and family".

"Compassion and generosity" are crucial to the game's experience as well as light and dark. Sky is scheduled to launch "this winter".

As you may recall, thatgamecompany is known for Flow, Flower, and Journey. As of yet, the game remains an Apple exclusive. People have been waiting 5 years for Thatgamecompany to announce their next game, and I don't think anybody would have expected that time to come during an Apple TV segment during an Apple event. The idea is that you and up to seven other players online explore the land to bring light to darkness, as well as fly around after giant creatures.
