Soldiers Raid NUJ Office, Attack National Leader

A video posted on social media showed an armoured tanker close to the house, with members of IPOB blocking the road leading to Kanu's house.

"They wanted to bulldoze their way into the palace but IPOB members formed human shield and resisted them".

Speaking with newsmen while showing them areas where soldiers fires some shots Kanu said that what the soldiers are trying to do is to provoke his supporters so that they could turn around to say that he want to start war in the country.

The Nigerian Army has however said troops did not invade Kanu's house, but were blocked by IPOB members while on parade.

The soldiers who claimed to have seen someone taking photos of the happenings reportedly invaded the nearby office of the Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Aba Road, Umuahia destroying computers and other mobile gadgets.

Sani Usman, army spokesman, could not confirm the invasion when contacted.

Efforts to reach the Public Relation Officer, 14 Army Brigade Ohafia, Major Gbadamosi Oyegoke, did not yield any fruit as he did not pick calls put to his cell phone.

He tweeted: "I condemn the raid on Nnamdi Kanu's home by the army".

However a statement from the Army says the report is "far from the truth".

"Therefore the public are kindly enjoined to disregard the rumours going round and the fictitious photographs of purported victims of attack".

He added that a soldier and a female passerby who were injured during the attack are now receiving treatment at the unit's medical inspection room.

"We would like to use this opportunity to warn mischief-makers threatening the peace and security of the country through falsehood such as above".

"3 people have been killed by the military and 20 wounded in their raid on Nnamdi Kanu's home".

"It was while they were passing that some people threw stones and other things at them".

Kanu's lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in a statement, said what transpired at the home of the leader of IPOB was a siege.
