Qualcomm pats itself for all the Android firsts before Apple's event

As you might know, Apple and manufacturers who build the iPhone and iPad are in the middle of a legal battle against Qualcomm.

Qualcomm has been in the news since quite sometime because of its ongoing patent violation issues with Apple.

There wouldn't really be anything weird with all this - the two companies are at odds, after all, and Apple's event is set to overshadow the entire tech world for the coming days.

Xiaomi's Mi Mix is rightly credited as the smartphone that ushered in the era of barely-there bezels that has continued with the Galaxy S8 / Note 8 and LG G6 / V30. According to Qualcomm, its model has always been to make its technologies available "as broadly as possible" to the mobile industry using its licensing program, and this includes both larger, more global companies as well as startups that are just beginning to offer something to consumers.

Iris scanning technology links to the Galaxy S8, but it actually debuted on the Galaxy Note 7. This whole thing seems like the work of a quick Google session. Qualcomm has also tested under-display fingerprint scanner and depth sensing through structured light on the company's reference design handset. Qualcomm also seems to think the HTC One M7 had a dual-camera system; it didn't. In a blog post, the chip maker made a list of smartphone firsts that took place on Android phones thanks to Qualcomm technology.

Meanwhile, on the blog post published on Monday, Francisco Cheng, director of technical marketing said it has "enabled some notable world firsts on Android, and some remain Android exclusives to this day". Here's to the next generation of mobile device start-ups and innovators, competing to bring you the next wave of class-leading Android devices. Earlier this year, Apple sued the chipmaker for roughly $1 billion claiming that Qualcomm has been "charging royalties for technologies they have nothing to do with".
