The Gainesville Police Department's Facebook has been inundated by thousands of comments about a number of its police officers on-duty during Hurricane Irma.

A Facebook selfie snapped Sunday featuring members of the Gainesville, Florida Police Department drew quite a response from admirers across the United States.

"I can't believe how many women are objectifying these poor, fine, young, strong, handsome, brave, sexy, delicious, virile, ovulation-inducing, mouth-watering, beefy".

Officers Nordman, Hamill and Rengering were simply going about their day to day business as part of the night crew scheduled to work following Hurricane Irma. "I can't remember where I was going with this.", one comment read.

"Do a calender [sic], add puppies and I'm pretty sure we can rebuild Texas and Florida".

'This pic is exactly why your grandmother always told you to wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident'.

The police department took the comments in good humor, responding with GIFs to many of them.

The post was later updated to say the department had been reading the comments, and some even made the chief blush. To those out there interested in Officers Nordman and Hamill, bad news for you: both men are married, the department confirmed. "We can confirm that Officer Rengering (far right with the unbelievable hair) IS SINGLE". Gainesville Police also requested people not call 911, requesting the trio to respond to their "incident".

The department thanked those who commented and said they would try to quickly get a calendar together to raise money for the hurricane recovery.

Most Facebook posts from the department receive a fair amount of shares and likes, but the internet flocked to the selfie of the "hot cops".
