Kulbhushan Jadhav case hearing resumes at ICJ on Wednesday

Pakistan's statement comes ahead of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) hearing in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case which resumes on Wednesday.

Noted lawyer Harish Salve, who represented India in the ICJ court, took up the issue of consular rights to its national and accused Pakistan of violating the Vienna convention and conducting a "farcical trial" without a "shred of evidence".

The Pakistani military court, while delivering its sentence, had said that the 47-year-old Jadhav was guilty of espionage and terrorism.

On May 18, the United Nations top court asked Pakistan to not execute Kulbhushan Jadhav before they decide the case.

The BJP which is heading the government is hoping for an early return of Jadhav. It will contend that Islamabad is acting in defiance Article 14 of the 1966 International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), and reiterate that Jadhav was illegally abducted from Iran, where he was running a small business.

"The spy was tried through field general court martial under the Pakistan army act and awarded the death sentence". "The court will take its decision".

In its memorial, New Delhi will reason grounds for relief for Jadhav, detail the violations committed by Pakistan and highlight that the former Indian Navy officer was denied consular access, India Today reported.

India opposes the CPEC, a part of Chinese President XiJinping's ambitious Belt and Road initiative, as it passesthrough the Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK). "The matter is in the court and we hope that we will get justice".

On Tuesday, Pakistani interior minister Ahsan Iqbal hit out at India and alleged that Pakistan's pursual of Jadhav's case was proof of India's intentions to sabotage the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, according to Pakistan's The News International.

Pakistan disputes India's allegations and claims it arrested Jadhav from its restive Balochistan province.
