Kirk in contention at major championship in France

Uehara is in sole possession of second spot after four birdies in five holes during a five-under round of 66.

Jutanugarn takes a one-shot lead into the third and final round of the Evian Championship - the final major of the season on the LPGA Tour.

Lydia Ko is within touching distance of adding another major golf title to her resume.

Hull birdied four of the first seven holes to get back to level par for the tournament, but she could not make any further progress and bogeyed 10 and 17 to end the day 11 shots behind the leader.

After a second-round 68 at the weather-shortened Evian, she is in pole position to become her country's second major victor.

Song has yet to crack the top 10 at a major championship, although she performed well here at Evian the last two years (T16 in 2015 and T17 in 2016).

Moriya Jutanugarn of Thailand leads at nine-under after carding a three-under-par 68.

Kirk's previous best finish in a major championship was in 2010 when she finished runner-up to Yani Tseng at the Women's British Open at Royal Birkdale.

"But I reckon if I keep knocking on the door, one day it will be my turn", she said.

"I forgot about yesterday and just focused on my play today", Park said, acknowledging she was "surprised" the LPGA scrapped Thursday's play.

Her stellar play comes during the final tournament of countrywomen Ai Miyazato's LPGA career. Park played in a stellar group with top-ranked So Yeon Ryu (75), her fellow South Korean, and No2 Lexi Thompson (70), of the US. But she went on to finish in a disappointing tie for 16th at St Andrews.

"I told myself to.just go back to good swing thoughts and hitting fairways and greens and the putts will eventually drop", she said. "I can win out here, and just keep believing and keep doing the right things, and you never know what happens".

At 35, Kirk's first win in seven years in Wisconsin in July has rekindled her appetite for the game.

Park had been six over through as many holes when wild weather at Evians Les Bains, France, forced players from the course a day earlier.

British Open victor Kim In-kyung is in joint fourth along with world number one Lydia Ko and US Open victor Park Sung-hyun, with the trio three shots adrift of Jutanugarn.
