Kid Rock responds to protests against his concerts

Meanwhile, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday that Kid Rock denied the newspaper credentials to the show because of a recent column that criticized having the musician as the arena's opening act.

While he continues to play the "Will He?" or "Won't He" dance with the great people of the state of MI over the upcoming race for U.S. Senate, Kid Rock remains pretty busy handling the duties of his day job, performing in arenas across the country.

Kid Rock's gigs are still scheduled to go ahead and run from Tuesday until September 20.

Kid Rock says criticism about his upcoming concerts in Detroit is politically motivated.

Kid Rock's real name is Robert Ritchie. He added that, "To be published without doing any fact checking on what Kid Rock has done for the city of Detroit?". His publicist had said he would give fans exclusive insight on his political views, but his speech at the beginning of the concert largely mirrored what he said at a Grand Rapids concert last week.

"This is the straw that broke the camel's back", said the Rev. Charles Williams II, president of the National Action Network Detroit chapter, last week. One counter-demonstrator held a Confederate flag.

Kid Rock, who is white, lashed out Monday at National Action Network in a Facebook post, saying politics are behind the threatened protest.

The activists are opposed to Kid Rock's display of the Confederate flag, criticism of National Football League quarterback Colin Kaepernick and support for President Donald Trump. "You want a quote, there it is".

Kid Rock, who is white, wrote, "None of this would be going on if I were not thinking of running for office".

To make the 2018 ballot, Kid Rock would need to submit 15,000 valid signatures by April 24.

The protesters marched and chanted against the Romeo, Michigan, native because of his Southern rock rebel persona that over the years has included using the Confederate flag in his appearances.
