The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has been launched in India within weeks of its global unveiling on the same day Apple will take the covers off its iPhone 8 and iPhone X at an event in California.

Most of the features are similar to the Galaxy S8/S8 Plus including the processor, which is the octa-core Exynos 8895 in India and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in specific regions. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 India launch will clash with the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X India launch event which are scheduled to launch for the tonight. It is composed of one 12MP f/1.7 Dual Pixel wide-angle sensor along with another telephoto 12MP f/2.4 unit. The main highlighting feature of the phablet, however, is its huge Infinity Super AMOLED display.

The device (we experienced Maple Gold one) comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal memory (expandable up to 256GB). The company says the S-Pen is more accurate and features a waterproof design. Both are equipped with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) for sharper photos and videos. For those who pre-book the device, the company is also offering free wireless charger. On the front, Samsung has chosen to use an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with an aperture of f/1.7. HDFC credit card users will also get Rs 4000 cashback on pre-orders. The site also claimed that once the company is finished testing the beta version of the update, the update's final version for the S8 mobile devices could be launched much faster compared to Galaxy S7's Nougat update.

Interestingly, the smartphone comes loaded with Bixby Voice and it is the first Samsung smartphone in India to feature the latest assistant.

The Galaxy Note 8, like previous Samsung phones, sports iris, fingerprint and facial recognition for speedy and secure unlocking, as well as quick and wireless charging capabilities. The Note8 also activates a S Pen specific menu each time you pull the Pen from the device.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE bands with a dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v 5.0, GPS, NFC and a USB 3.1 Type C port at the bottom.

The Note 8 runs Samsung's take on the Android 7.1.1, which enables nifty tricks such as simultaneously running two apps.
