Bound plane in Paris surrounded by police after reports of security threat

Paris: A British Airways flight from Paris was evacuated at Charles de Gaulle airport here on Sunday for security reasons after passengers were told a "direct threat" had been made towards the aircraft.

Pictures and video from the scene show police and fire engines surrounding the plane as it sits on the runway at the airport. "Passengers in the care of airport personnel before re-embarking", it said.

He added: "Apparently an individual has made a direct threat to this aircraft".

A British Airways flight was briefly grounded in Paris early Sunday and passengers deplaned over security concerns, French authorities said. Now hold luggage being searched by dogs'.

Mr Anderson claimed 'Everybody's been individually searched by armed officers and given all clear.

The plane was due to depart the airport at 7.25am this morning.

There have been a number of smaller attacks, while the doomed EgyptAir flight MS804 which crashed into the Mediterranean in May 2016, possibly due to an explosion, also took off from Charles de Gaulle.

James Anderson, a 20-year-old entrepreneur on the flight from Paris to London's Heathrow Airport, told The Associated Press that the pilot initially told passengers there were technical issues.

'We were waiting on the plane for around an hour.

"The pilot then said there had been a direct security threat involving our flight", Anderson told the AP.

They said: 'The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority.

The security alert comes amid heightened tensions in the United Kingdom in the wake of the failed bomb plot on a District Line train at Parsons Green on Friday.

The airline stressed that the additional security checks had been carried out merely as a precaution and added they would never allow a flight to take off unless it was safe to do so.
