Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone X launch event

Also, as a mark of the 10th year, the company to be launched the iPhone X at the campus of Apple Park.

Even though iPhone 8 is only hours away from being unveiled, Apple still couldn't keep it under wraps. Said to feature an edge-to-edge OLED display, 3GB of RAM, an A11 processor and wireless charging functionality, the iPhone X will be one of the most significant upgrades to the iPhone line in its 10 year history (with a price tag to match).

Apple's event is primarily about the iPhones, and we are expecting three different devices this time around. It's packed with several sensors, including ones that recognize the user's face over time, allowing facial recognition to be what unlocks the phone.

This weekend's Apple leaks quashed several earlier rumors that had always been circulating about the company's latest phones.

The other products listed include the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3 and AirPods.

Apple has sold more than 1.2 billion iPhones since it first released the phone a decade ago, but the company took a huge hit to its revenue previous year as many customers did not buy an iPhone 7 because they saw it as too similar to the iPhone 6. According to a report in The Telegraph, one of the executives at Apple manufacturer Foxconn has clarified that the high-end device will "not be cheap".

What we know a lot more about however is the iPhone X. This is going to be Apple's brand-new ultra-premium smartphone that some say might cost as much as £1,000. Besides the new iPhones, there is also expected to be a slew of new launches tonight. However, Apple may not increase the actual size of the footprint.

The new model may completely remove the original iPhone home button.

How: Apple will livestream the event. In a major change, a pressure-detection technology with 3D Touch may replace the conventional home screen button and fingerprint-reading technology. But if you're desperate to drop the best part of a grand on a mobile phone, you may want to act sooner rather than later.

Apple aims to provide the new model with a 5.8-inch display mounted on a body that would normally accommodate a 4.7-inch screen.

Previous leaks have hinted on new developments in Apple's camera technology. It's that wireless charging eliminates the need to actually plug anything into the phone itself. Priced at $349 and set to be released in December, the voice-controlled HomePod will provide intelligent responses powered by Apple's Siri digital assistant.
