Alabama rolls to 3-0 start, 41-23 over Colorado State

Alabama got out of the gate quickly for a second straight week, with Hurts running for 14 yards on the first play from scrimmage, throwing to Harris for 17 yards on the second play and then capping the six-play, 75-yard drive with a 27-yard scoring run.

Alabama capitalized on the Colorado State miscue, rumbling 88 yards on 14 plays, and finishing the drive with a nine-yard touchdown run by junior running back Bo Scarbrough, extending the UA lead to 31-10 with 6:52 to go in the third quarter.

Jalen Hurts made a gun symbol with hands, blowing off the barrels before tucking them back into their imaginary holsters.

On the next defensive series, Alabama senior safety Hootie Jones camped under another long pass from Stevens at the Tide 24-yard-line for a second interception, returning it 65 yards to the Rams 11-yard-line in the third quarter.

But in one moment Saturday, as Foster darted across the field, weaving between Colorado State defenders on a 58-yard catch-and-run touchdown a minute before halftime, all those feelings were expunged. He rushed for 103 yards and another score. Hurts found receiver Robert Foster on a quick pass, and Foster turned it into a 52-yard touchdown. "I expect them to make a play and they did a good job of doing that". After owning the first quarter, Alabama managed just 85 second-quarter yards compared to 155 by the Rams. Wyatt Bryan scored the first points of the day for CSU, hitting a 27-yard field goal early in the quarter (17-3). On their next possession, the Rams were even better, marching 85 yards in 11 plays and pulling within 17-10 on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Nick Stevens to Warren Jackson.

Alabama flirted with the idea of utilizing senior middle linebacker Rashaan Evans (groin) against Colorado State, but opted instead to give the veteran one more game's rest.

The Tide offense, though, was a balanced attack. Alabama LBs Rashaan Evans (groin), Anfernee Jennings (ankle) and Dylan Moses were all held out of the game on Saturday. Sophomore tight end Miller Forristall had a 12-yard reception midway through the third quarter but suffered a knee injury that Saban believes is a torn ACL. Alabama travels to Nashville next Saturday to face Vanderbilt.
