Young star Walker-Peters signs new Spurs deal

KYLE WALKER-PETERS has signed a new contract to keep him at Tottenham until the end of the 2020 season.

The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut against Newcastle on the opening day of the season, turning in an impressive display in the 2-0 win at St James' Park.

Tottenham saw their star defender Kyle Walker leave the club and complete a switch to Manchester City earlier in the summer transfer window.

His performances in training and pre-season, as well as for the England under-20 national team, have convinced Pochettino to hand Walker-Peters a new deal.

The defender has played for England's Under-18, U-19 and U-20 national teams.

Spurs fans have since welcomed their newest English prospect with open arms - some even suggesting that Walker-Peters deserved to start ahead of Trippier following Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

Spurs have been busy extending the contracts of their key players this year and that highlights how serious Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy are about keeping hold of their best talents.

"It's great to sign a new contract and commit my future to the club", Walker-Peters told Tottenham's official Twitter account.
