West Brom took chance on Hegazi, says coach Tony Pulis

Ahmed Hegazi, a loan signing from Al Ahly, scored the only goal with a header just after the half-hour mark as the Baggies celebrated Pulis signing a one-year contract extension with the flawless start to their Premier League campaign.

The Baggies boss' current deal was due to expire in May at the end of the current Premier League season, but will now stay on in the West Midlands for at least another two years.

- Bournemouth have lost all three of their opening-day fixtures in the Premier League, losing 1-0 to Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa in 2015, Jose Mourinho's Manchester United 3-1 a year ago and to Pulis's West Brom here.

"I've got full confidence we can bring in the players we need", he said.

"I think we've seen an improvement all across the club in recent seasons and we must continue that in what is such a tough, tough league".

With regard to conversations with club chairman John Williams, the Welshman mentioned having spoken "at great length over the summer", knowing the direction needed that together they "are determined to do".

Rodriguez and Hegazi made their debuts at home to Bournemouth yesterday and both impressed as Hegazi's header gave West Brom a 1-0 victory. "We need to get some players in and we need to get some players in quickly", said Pulis.

"How we never scored more than one I just don't know".

"Neither can we underestimate how hard that is".

"We can take enormous confidence from this".

"We have had enough football in pre-season to be ready".

"But I do believe in the future of these young players and that's an important part of the development of the club, especially with the incredible rises we are seeing in prices within the transfer market".
