Wenger: Sanchez will miss Premier League opener

Rumours persist that Sanchez will leave before the window closes, with Wenger suggesting he will also miss the trip to Stoke next weekend.

There is a sense at PSG that Aurier needs a fresh start to revive his career.

Wenger said the Chile global would miss Arsenal's home fixture against Leicester City on Friday as well as the trip to Stoke City on August 19. 'I have sympathy for him.

The Chilean worldwide suffered the injury in training on Sunday morning and will now miss our first two games against Leicester and Stoke while he could also be a doubt to face Liverpool at the end of the month.

The Arsenal boss has been willing to take the risk of Sanchez running down his current contract and leaving the Emirates on a free transfer next summer.

"Some you know about and that's very hard for a group of players to cope with that - and some other reasons we will talk about on another day".

In the case of Sanchez it's safe to say most Arsenal fans wouldn't have expected to see him playing in their season opener anyway, but probably because he would've been sold after returning from worldwide action late in preseason. He had a scan two days ago and he's out for a while. Why hasn't he just said I'm staying for one more season? "I rate him as a player, but we have similar types with Alex Iwobi, Jack Wilshere back, Mesut Ozil. we have plenty of the same type of players".

"It's a long time I didn't speak to Nasser, because it's certainly very busy to complete the transfer of Neymar and it's a long time that I didn't speak to him".

"He added: "[PSG] are looking for Mbappe, that's what I read in the papers.

"We need to transform the quality of the preparation into points and that is, of course, a pragmatic view, but what matters is we win the game and start in a strong way, which we didn't do a year ago".
