Tesla cuts price on Model X SUV

Musk is optimistic that Tesla will be able to scale up production to 20,000 Model 3 cars per month by 2017-end.

Tesla's Model 3 starts at US$35,000 and can drive 350 kilometres on a single charge.

The company managed to maintain sustainable sales revenue from their production of batteries, solar panel business and in auto manufacturing division the sales of Model S sedan and Model X sport utility vehicle. The company has quoted $35,000 as the base price for their Model 3 auto and is expecting better sales than their Model S sedan and Model X cars because Model 3 is supposed to be targeting the mass market. Following word of the June record, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter that hitting 1000 km on a single charge should be possible.

There's a lot riding on Tesla's Model 3 launch.

That's the finding from Consumer Reports, which said the extended-range electric vehicle rolled to an impressive 250 miles on a charge in its testing.

A United States startup pursuing Elon Musk's vision for near-supersonic rail transport announced an agreement on a feasibility study for a "hyperloop" system connecting two European cities. For one, he said he overreached on the technology included in the first generation of its SUV the Model X. With the Model 3, Tesla hopes to start cranking out hundreds of thousands of cars annually. However, it is overmatched by the Model 3 in speed and acceleration. So far, Musk's strategy has paid off. Musk, 46, co-founded Tesla in 2003, and the company has sold more than 200,000 cars during that time.

Tesla's market cap has rivalled that of Ford, Fiat Chrysler, and General Motors this year, despite selling a fraction of vehicles and only turning a profit twice since its 2010 initial public offering. But Musk said there "will be significant carry over" from Model 3 production in order to bring the compact SUV to market faster.

"In our electric-vehicle range test, we put the Bolt head-to-head against our 2016 Tesla Model S 75D". Munster says Tesla will play a central role in "paradigm shifts" to electric and autonomous vehicles that could transform the sector.
