Neymar Reunites With Former Barcelona Teammates As Club Prepare To Sue Him

Barcelona are suing former player Neymar for 8.5m euros (£7.8m) over his world record move to Paris St-Germain.

The club is demanding for Neymar or PSG to pay the $10 million of a signing bonus that he received a year ago. Besides £8m, Barcelona demands an additional 10% charge as a delayed payment.

Neymar was able to leave Barcelona earlier this month after PSG paid $333 million to trigger a release clause included in his contract.

"FC Barcelona have put forward these actions in defence of their interests following the unilateral termination of the contract instigated by Neymar Jr, a few months after the signing of his renewal until the year 2021".

Should Neymar - if the courts rule in the club's favor - be unable to pay, Barcelona has demanded that Paris-Saint Germain be made responsible for the completion of the payment. The statement also requests PSG to return the payment if the player can not do it.

The two former mates of FC Barcelona, Neymar Santos Jnr and his Brazilian compatriot, Dani Alves returned to Barcelona today.

The AFP reminds that "since the resounding transfer of the Brazilian to PSG three weeks ago, the catalan club is unwilling to pay a premium of 26 million euros promised to the player".

They are also demanding a return of a loyalty bonus given to Neymar when he signed a contract extension last October "as he has not completed his contract". I spent four handsome years there and I parted happy.

He also scored twice in the 6-2 victory over Toulouse that leaves PSG top of Ligue 1 on goal difference but the fallout from the transfer looks set to rumble on. At the start, I was happy.

After his debut on Sunday, Neymar criticized the heads of Barca: "It was the handsome four years in Barcelona and I parted happily".

On Monday Neymar said Barcelona deserved "much more" than the current board of directors and added that it made him "very sad". "To the other teams, it is clear that PSG has become a very serious contender".
