The 2017 National Basketball Association rookie class is bullish on Dallas Mavericks guard Dennis Smith Jr.

Lonzo Ball's first signature shoe under Big Baller Brand, the ZO2, is scheduled to officially release in November of 2017.

The rookies also see him putting on a show in the short run, as he took 20.0 percent of the vote for the "Rookie of the Year" prediction, placing him behind only Dallas' Dennis Smith Jr. Josh Jackson and Dennis Smith received 10.5 percent, while Markelle Fultz got just 5.3 percent - the same total as his teammate Ben Simmons (it seems like a safe bet that many rookies forgot Ben Simmons was technically a part of their class now). Others receiving votes in the top 10 were Kyle Kuzma (Lakers), Donovan Mitchell (Jazz), and Ben Simmons (Sixers).

Smith impressed scouts - and his fellow rookies, apparently - with standout athleticism and explosiveness in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 17.8 points per game. He was selected by Utah with the 13th pick this summer.

As an aside: It's a little weird that so few rookies voted for Fultz (the No. 1 pick), both for "best career" and for "rookie of the year". The players surveyed have correctly predicted the Rookie of the Year just once since 2007 - Kevin Durant won the award that season. Last season, former Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Kris Dunn received the majority of votes from fellow rookies.

While out and about in Los Angeles, TMZ approached the Los Angeles Lakers player regarding Jay-Z's comments.

When asked "Which rookie will have the best career?" on the latest edition of the NBA's annual rookie survey, a group of 39 incoming players identified Tatum and Lonzo Ball as the leading candidates.
