Girls arrested for putting crying baby in refrigerator, posting video to Snapchat

The suspects were both charged with child endangerment and assault and battery by means of a risky weapon, according to Steve O'Connell, a spokesman for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.

Two Danvers, Massachusetts, teens are facing charges after a video reportedly showed them placing a baby in a refrigerator and closing the door.

One part of the video apparently shows a young babysitter open a refrigerator to show a screaming baby inside. She says she had no idea of the incident until she was shown the video, that was posted on Snapchat, by police.

The child is said to be doing well and is at home with its family.

The mother of the 8-month-old told WBZ-TV that her 15-year-old niece and her 14-year-old friend watched the child for a half an hour while she showered. "I was horrified. I was in shock", the mother said.

A pair of juvenile girls have been arrested after putting an infant in a refrigerator, prosecutors allege.

It is not clear from the clip how long the child was inside for, but they eventually return to take it out. "I'm traumatized from that". She didn't - I know she wouldn't hurt my daughter, and that wasn't her intentions.

She says the baby is fine, but she'll be hesitant about leaving her with anyone again.

"You live, you learn and this is a lesson my niece will learn to be careful who you leave your children with". "You can't trust anyone, not even your own family".

The girls were baby-sitting for a family in Danvers but their hometowns were not released.
